Bachelorette 2015 Recap – Episode 9: Sex Bomb!

Nick: “I didn’t really want to bring it up but I’m worried about you.”

Kaitlyn: “No one else has told me any concerns except if it was about you. Why has no one else talked to me about Shawn?”

Just as Kaitlyn says this, there’s a crack of thunder and the skies open up. Is that a sign that Kaitlyn’s fantasy about Shawn is about to come crashing down around her?

Nick: “Everyone’s just like, ‘Shawn is the frontrunner.’ Okay, great. They’re okay with being second. It’s the weirdest thing.”

Yeah, I’d have to agree it’s weird but that does seem to be the dynamic with the guys this season. Maybe that’s why Shawn is so threatened by Nick. Nick isn’t content to lie down and let Shawn run away with the prize.

But in Kaitlyn’s ITM, she states that she thinks Nick and Shawn are just saying jealous things about each other and she can’t really fault them for it since they each think they should be with her. Yes, Kaitlyn, you can. If that’s what you think they’re doing, you should confront them about it. It’s not their place to be trying to influence you through negative advertising. Is that really how you want to pick your husband? Choose the guy who chose to trash another guy instead of relying on his own merits and trusting you to make your own decisions for your life?

Because if a guy is overbearing now, do you think he’s going to stop thinking he knows what’s best for you once you’re his actual fiance?

There’s no comparison between Nick’s one negative comment and Shawn’s smear campaign against Nick but if Kaitlyn thinks they’re doing the same thing, she should have a talk with each of them before letting either of them propose.

Not surprisingly, Kaitlyn isn’t disturbed enough by Nick’s comment to not give him the fantasy suite card.

The next morning finds them eating room service and debating the merits of American versus Canadian bacon. They talk like they’ve known each other forever. I’ve never seen two people on this show who seem more like soul mates than Nick and Kaitlyn. I’m still not willing to make that prediction but this seems like a done deal to me unless they’re not showing us similar moments with the other two guys to deliberately mislead us into thinking Nick is the guy who will be left standing in the end.

Kaitlyn: “We stayed up all night on the couch and ate chocolate and talked A LOT.” Champagne and chocolate and good conversation with a possible break for another round of great sex? I think Shawn might want to think about packing his bags.

Next we see Shawn pacing in his room. He picks up the phone and asks for Nick’s room (his last name IS pronounced “vial” after all as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago). This is SO staged. First, the camera crew has to set up in Shawn’s room so they would know ahead of time Shawn is going to call to get Nick’s room number and that Shawn is planning on confronting Nick in his room. Second, if he wanted to know Nick’s room number, all he’d have to do is ask production.

My question is, if production knows Shawn is going to confront Nick, is there a part of Shawn that already knows at this point he’s ready to go home? Because if I were Kaitlyn and I found out about the confrontation that’s about to go down between these two, I’d put Shawn’s dumb ass on a plane back to Nashville the second I found out about it.

Shawn knocks on Nick’s door and not surprisingly, Nick isn’t shocked to see him there and let’s him in. Yeah, Nick knew this was coming too. Alright, boys, have out your staged confrontation for all of America to see. I don’t think the fight was scripted but it was definitely arranged.

Nick: “What’s up?”

Shawn: “I just wanna get what I’ve been feeling off my chest because I don’t want to be the guy talking behind your back like the other guys have and not be man enough to say it to your face…” So you’re a standup guy for letting Nick know he sucks instead of keeping that information to yourself like most polite human beings? And BTW, you’re now talking sh*t about the OTHER guys behind THEIR backs to Nick by implying they’re cowardly backstabbers.

“I don’t understand your reasons for being here but Kaitlyn, I truly don’t think that’s the only reason you’re here. I obviously care about Kaitlyn a lot and I don’t think she’s seeing the side of you we’re all seeing [or] you probably wouldn’t be here and I think there’d be a better guy sitting in your chair right now.” I do wonder what Shawn hopes to accomplish by slamming Nick face-to-face.

Nick: “With all due respect…” I don’t think he’s due any after that speech… “you can say whatever you want but you don’t know me, you don’t know why I’m here. You haven’t spent any time trying to get to know me.”

Shawn: “You’re manipulative, you’re arrogant, you’re just a cocky guy…”

Nick: “I could say the same thing about you.”

Shawn: “If Kaitlyn does end up with you at the end of this thing, I’m gonna sleep fine because I know you and me and you are completely different guys…” If only he could go to sleep now and stop being such a sh*t. “…if that’s what she wants, that’s fine because me and her weren’t meant to be together.”

Nick: “I agree.” So do I.

Shawn: “You’re an a**hole…” Oh, don’t start pulling punches now, Shawn. Tell him what you really think. “I don’t think you’re here just for Kaitlyn. I think you have other reasons of [sic] being here.”

Nick: “And those are what? Based off of my actions?”

Shawn: “Trying to change your reputation from last season…” Yeah, self-improvement is a real crime. “Do you think it’s a coincidence there have been like 40 guys between the last two seasons that have thought negatively about you? Who’ve said things about you behind your back?” 40? Really? Did you count them? Have you ever even spoken a single word to ANY of the guys from last season? Yeah, Nick did rub a lot of the guys the wrong way and a lot of them suspected him of being there for nefarious reasons. Chris Soules, arguably the sanest and most respectable guy last season, was the one who confronted Nick about it last season. He ended up recanting after he watched the show back because he realized that Nick WAS actually in love with Andi. Do your homework, moron.

Nick: “That’s a generalization. You can’t talk about last season because you weren’t there.” Well, he can but he shouldn’t.

Shawn: “Obviously, I didn’t expect you to see it this way…” You mean you didn’t expect Nick to roll over and admit he’s the worthless sh*tbag you think he is? “Maybe you’re just so oblivious…” To what? That guys hate him? Pretty sure Nick is used to it from last season. “Maybe you just don’t give a sh*t.” I’m pretty sure Nick doesn’t give a sh*t what the other guys think of him, least of all you. He’s mentioned several times that he doesn’t.

Nick: “We don’t see eye-to-eye.”

Shawn: “No, we don’t see eye-to-eye.”

CUT TO BLACK: To Be Continued…

Obviously, I think Shawn was WAY, WAY out of line to go after Nick like that and as I said, if I were Kaitlyn and I found out about it, Shawn would be going home post haste. I just don’t know what Shawn thought he’d get out of it. If he was done with Kaitlyn and he just wanted to make sure he gave Nick a piece of his mind before departing, however mean and unnecessary, that makes sense. But if he still plans on getting engaged to Kaitlyn, that was a really bad move on his part.

In the promo, we hear some more of Nick and Shawn fighting but without visuals, I don’t trust it.  We hear Kaitlyn say, “I can feel the hate between Shawn and Nick.” We see Kaitlyn in at ITM before a rose ceremony saying, “It breaks my heart but I know what I have to do. It just breaks my heart to think about doing it.” We also see Chris Harrison whispering to Kaitlyn before the rose ceremony, “Do you want to let them know what’s going on?”

The implication is that either Shawn or Nick is going home before the rose ceremony. But I never trust a promo. As usual, we’ll have to wait until next week to see what really went down.

At the tail end, we get a final update on Britt and Brady’s relationship. Their time together in L.A. is up. He’s flying back to Nashville. She’s staying here. They’re going to try to make a long-distance relationship work. BWAHAHA. Yeah, it’s over.
